Growing up in the country alongside a working farm, I have a great appreciation for the labour and love that goes into what ends up on our plate. This understanding beautifully merges with what I do now: help people change the way they think and feel about food and their body.
I started my training in 2006, completing a BSc in Psychology, an MA in Addiction Studies, an MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and I am currently a PhD candidate in Psychoanalysis. I am fascinated by how our mind works and have been helping people change their lives and most importantly, their relationships with themselves for over ten years.
I suppose the Artful Eating journey began when I first set up my private psychotherapy practice in 2010. I was struck by the fact that almost everyone who came to see me, at some point would inevitably begin talking about a dissatisfaction with their body and their relationship with food. Old, young, little, large, each client seemed to have their own unique struggle with their image.
Fascinated and sad at the same time, I felt compelled to do something about it. That is how the seeds of Artful eating began, and over the past three years I developed the Artful Eating approach. In that time I have helped so many wonderful people feel freedom around food and their body. Weight loss had been a joyous consequence!
The concept grew from my therapy room to an online course, a bespoke coaching program and now a bestselling book. I have been featured in numerous magazines including Cosmopolitan, Red, Image, YOU Mag, and newspapers including The Irish Independent, The Irish Examiner, The Sunday Independent and on BBC Radio London, Newstalk, Q102, LMFM and Ireland AM.
